T-Mobile Sidekick II / Danger Hiptop2

Well... I sent back my Color Sidekick because I just got my T-Mobile Sidekick II (also known as the Danger Hiptop2. There aren't a lot of new features in comparison to the first Sidekick, but its definately improved a lot.

Improved Swivel LCD

The first thing I noticed was the LCD is now flush with the rest of the phone. This was an annoying features in the BW and Color Sidekicks. It would feel akward while talking on the phone, with the LCD angled into your cheek. I'm glad they fixed this in the SK2

New Built in Camera

Another great thing is the camera is now built in. Everyone I know that had a BWSK or CSK had a camera, but always left the camera attachment at home, making it worthless. The picture quality has been improved as well. BWSK camera took pictures 160x120, CSK was 320x240, while the SK2 gives you a resolution of 640x480. Not bad for a camera in a phone. Most of the time I'll just be taking a picture of my food and sending an email saying "too bad you're not here!".

One thing I noticed while reading the manual was they added a small convex mirror on the back next to the camera hole. Why? So when you take pictures of yourself you can line up the shot. haha. I thought that was amusing.

Other minor improvements

The speed has been improved, which is also nice.

Some of the other new features are Yahoo! Instant Messenger (available for free from the catalog), Photo Caller ID, Customizable Color Bumpers, and Improved Radio Performance.

Some of their basic features have been given minor improvements. Nothing worth noting though.

Old Sidekick Features

Of course the Sidekick II has all the features of the CSK and BWSK.
